Lake Crescent is well known for its large trout and recently some good fish have been caught in Lake Sorell. Lake Sorell has a rich history of trout fishing and is being tipped to become the top trout fishing Lake of Tasmania once more.
If you need a break from fishing, why not take one of our kayaks to explore the shore, enjoy the rich birdlife in the local Ramsar Wetlands or rug up for that crisp walk to return to the welcoming warmth of the fire at The Doctor’s.
Those who want to venture further afield might begin with Oatlands, 26 kilometres (and a thousand miles away) which boasts Australia’s largest number of Georgian-era sandstone buildings. Make sure you visit the world-famous Callington Mill Whisky Distillery with its fabulous cellar door.

Dave’s family history at Interlaken runs deep, with childhood holidays spent at the family shack, fishing Lake Sorell. Dave and Nicole built The Doctor’s, sharing it with visitors since 2022. They are both passionate about the area and just love it when guests are making unforgettable memories here.
