Tasmania offers a truly unique and beautiful trout fishery that really lends itself to the dry fly trout fishing enthusiast. We are blessed to have many streams, creeks and river systems that offer great clear water fishing in attractive native locations, that just so happen to hold ample numbers of wild trout.

High on our list of favourite rivers include the: St Patricks River, South Esk River, North Esk River and the Meander River, including many of their feeder streams and creeks which can provide amazing twig water fishing, especially at hopper time.

Our favourite lakes and lagoons include the: Nineteen Lagoons, Penstock Lagoon, Little Pine Lagoon, Four Springs Lagoon, Arthurs Lake, Augusta Lake and Lake Leake. And while there are so many options, it’s impossible to name them all, but the above listed waters allow for excellent sight fishing, dry fly fishing, tailing fish stalking and wet fly searching opportunities.

In all of these locations, there can be prolific rises to red and black spinners, highland duns, caddis flies (in certain waters), damsel flies, gum beetles and dragon flies while some of our mudeye (dragon fly larvae) migrations, jassid falls and hopper seasons can last in one’s memory for a life time.

We are a licensed explorer and your All Round Guide is fully certified and accredited to guide you in our World Heritage Areas, National Parks, Conservation Areas, State Forests and State Reserves. Which particular area of Tasmania you would like to explore with us?

Our guide, Scott Murphy lives in Launceston and grew up in a northern midland town next to clear mountain streams and has been trout fishing since the mid 1970’s. He was introduced to fly fishing in the late 1990’s and has had a healthy obsession since, and commenced guiding for other local guides in Tasmania back in 2005. Scott holds a passion and love for the Tasmanian environment and the trout waters within, especially the rivers local to the Launceston area (such as the St Patricks River, South Esk River and Meander Rivers) and the lakes and lagoons in our central highland region (including Penstock Lagoon, Little Pine Lagoon, Lake Augusta and the Nineteen Lagoons). And while we don’t aim to or pretend to be the world’s best anglers, we do aim to be, and stay competent anglers while having fun doing it. We are dedicated to delivering an enjoyable and memorable experience to each and every one of our valued clients. Email us now to discuss your fishing tour requirements to ask@allroundguide.com.au
